DEGREES:
- B.A., Distributed Studies, Iowa State University, 1976
- M.S., Entomology, Iowa State University, 1977
- PhD., Genetics, North Carolina State University, 1981
RESEARCH INTERESTS:
The focus of my research is on the genetics of quantitatively-inherited traits in corn and on the interaction of these traits with the environment.
COURSES TAUGHT:
- AGRO 931 (Introduction to Quantitative Genetics)
- AGRO 932 (Advanced Plant Breeding)
MAJOR PROJECT ACTIVITIES:
My major activities are:
- using cross-over interactions in cultivar yield trials to classify environments
- determining which abiotic environmental variables contribute to cross-over interactions
- investigating the relationship between yield per plant and plant density and the impact this has on selecting for improved yield potential
PREVIOUS INDUSTRY EXPERIENCE:
Fifteen years of experience in development of elite corn inbreds hybrids in U.S. Corn Belt.
