  • Waste management i.e. manure, sludge and other agricultural and industrial by-products amendments to soil, organic N and P mineralization.
  • Soil acidity and liming
  • Effect of tillage on soil properties
  • International agriculture

MAJOR PROJECT ACTIVITIES:

Research

  • Quantifying effect of soil acidity (surface and subsurface) on nutrient (P) uptake, soil chemistry, and mycorrhizal-crop relationships.
  • USAID-INTSORMIL: Soil and water management for sorghum production in Eastern Africa; starter fertilizer effect on sorghum; P management.
  • Quantifying soil management effects on water quality.

Teaching

  • Design supplemental online lessons to enhance basic and practical understanding of macro- and micro- scale soil processes to undergraduate audience.
  • Evaluate the impact of online lessons on student learning
  • A multidisciplinary and multi-institutional Soil Science Education Project-Phase I:
