Description:  Under the guidance and supervision of their graduate advisory committee, Master of Agriculture students are required to develop and complete a one- to six-credit-hour, non-thesis-based project which enables them to synthesize and apply knowlege gained from their area of concentration to meet an agricultural or horticultural challenge.  Specifically, students are required to:

  • Research a particular need or problem in their field of interest, then develop a project proposal based on that research, obtaining final approval from their advisory committee.  The proposal will include a description of the need or problem and describe what they propose to investigate or develop and the anticipated impact.
  • Complete activities necessary to carry out the project.
  • Write a project summary paper.
  • Give a public presentation describing the project and its impact.
  • Pass a comprehensive exam (oral or written) covering the project.

Delivery:  Students will complete this course by working closely with their advisor and committee.  Communication may be face-to-face, via e-mail, phone, etc.
