Distance Education & Life-Long Learning Program
|
Education is not a "one-size-fits-all" proposition. Maybe you'd like to return to college and pursue a graduate degree in agronomy, but your time, schedule, location, work or family commitments don't allow you to take traditional "resident" classes on campus. Perhaps you don't need a full degree, just certain courses or workshops to enhance your career, further your personal or professional development goals or earn continuing education units (CEUs). These and other reasons bring adult learners to our distance education courses, workshops, self-paced study offerings and other life-long learning opportunities. At UNL's Department of Agronomy and Horticulture, we offer a complete online non-thesis M.S. in Agronomy degree program, as well as a variety of courses and workshops to meet the needs of non-degree-seeking students and life-long learners. Some courses are delivered entirely online, while others offer students a choice of attending a resident class section or participating via distance technologies. The majority of our classes and workshops, listed below by topic area, are offered for academic credit, as well as for noncredit professional development and CEU credit. Unless otherwise indicated, all courses are offered for one academic credit. We also offer three series of self-paced online lessons which are available for noncredit and CEU credit, only. To earn academic credit for courses, students must be enrolled in the University of Nebraska-Lincoln; graduate students are also required to be admitted to UNL's Graduate School. Academic students are expected to complete assignments which go beyond what is expected of students taking classes for noncredit professional development or for CEU credit. Earned academic credits can be applied towards related degree programs at UNL, undergraduate or graduate, or transferred to other institutions.
